Healing Your Terrains Retreat: A Space to Reconnect, Reflect, and Rebuild Health

When someone receives a cancer diagnosis, most conversations focus on treatment.

Surgery. Chemotherapy. Radiation. Medications.

These interventions can play an important role. But for many people, the experience of cancer eventually raises deeper questions about health.

Questions like:

  • How can I actually become healthier?

  • What may have contributed to this illness in the first place?

  • What can I do to support my body moving forward?

These questions often lead people to look beyond treatment alone and begin exploring the broader terrain of health — the internal and external factors that influence how the body functions, heals, and responds to disease.

This includes things like nutrition, environmental exposures, emotional well-being, stress, movement, and connection.

At the Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health (MTIH), we often talk about the importance of understanding and supporting the body’s terrain as a foundation for long-term health and resilience. Our educational programs explore this through what we call the Terrain Ten™ — key areas of metabolic health that influence how the body functions and responds to stress, illness, and healing.

While education is an important starting point, many people also benefit from opportunities to slow down, reflect, and explore these ideas in community with others walking a similar path.

Across the metabolic health community, Terrain-trained practitioners, advocates, and patients are creating spaces where people can do just that. One example is the Healing Your Terrains Retreat, a small gathering hosted by members of the Terrain community who are passionate about helping others explore health and healing through a whole-person approach.

A Thoughtful Retreat for People Navigating Cancer and Chronic Illness

A few times each year, a small group gathers for the Healing Your Terrains Retreat — an intimate experience designed for individuals who want to explore health from a deeper perspective.

Some participants are navigating cancer. Others are living with chronic illness. And some simply want to take a more proactive role in their long-term health.

Over several days, participants engage in meaningful conversations, share experiences, and explore practical ways to support their bodies and overall well-being.

This retreat is not about quick fixes or rigid protocols. Instead, it offers a supportive environment to reflect, learn, and reconnect with what it means to truly support health.

A Beautiful Natural Setting to Slow Down and Reconnect

The retreat takes place on a beautiful 100-acre working farm outside Nashville, Tennessee, offering a peaceful environment where participants can step away from daily stress and reconnect with nature.

Time outdoors plays an important role in the retreat experience, with opportunities for:

  • Nature walks

  • Farm activities

  • Forest bathing

  • Quiet reflection and journaling

  • Sauna and restorative downtime

Participants often find that simply slowing down and spending time in nature creates space for clarity, healing conversations, and new perspectives on health.

What Participants Experience During the Retreat

Each day includes opportunities for movement, conversation, reflection, and shared meals.

Retreat activities include:

Daily Sacred Circles
Guided conversations inspired by the Radical Remission factors that encourage reflection, community support, and meaningful dialogue.

Movement and Mind-Body Practices
Morning Qi Gong and gentle movement to help participants reconnect with their bodies.

Nutrition Conversations and Farm-Fresh Meals
Shared meals on the farm with discussions about nutrient density, food quality, and practical ways to nourish the body.

Nature-Based Activities
Forest bathing, walking in nature, and outdoor reflection to support stress reduction and mental clarity.

Open Conversations About Cancer Care
Participants often engage in thoughtful discussions about emerging therapies, integrative approaches, and evolving topics in cancer care.

Throughout the retreat, the focus remains on connection, learning, and empowering individuals to take an active role in their health journey.

Optional Integrative Therapies

Participants also have the option to schedule consultations and therapies through MindStream Integrative Medicine before or after the retreat.

Depending on individual needs and treatment plans, options may include:

  • High-dose IV vitamin C

  • Mistletoe therapy

  • Ozone treatments

  • Integrative medical consultations

These therapies are considered within the context of a personalized cancer care plan, aligned with each individual’s goals and stage of treatment.
